“The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. You cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potential and stretch yourself to the limit.” ~ Jim Rohn
1) Acknowledge The Fact That You Haven’t Been Living To Your Full Potential.
It is true that none of us are living up to all that we are capable of. The brain has endless capabilities and there is no end to the power of your imagination. A lot of things may seem impossible at first, but if you are willing to try and stay with the desired task, you will be surprised at what is actually possible.
“There is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do.” ~ Henry Ford
2) Choose A Life That Is Just Out Of Reach.
Be willing to consider goals that are unrealistic, at least ones that appear to be out of reach. These goals are much more exciting, even if they do seem impossible at first. Pushing towards these goals will force you to tap into the creative aspects of your brain power.
“We’ll never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.” ~ Travis Rice
3) Have Specific Goals.
The more specific you make your goals the better. The powers of your subconscious mind will lead you to the “how to’s” of your goal so don’t worry too much about the how to’s at first. The answers will come. Just give it time. Do not be too impatient.
4) Treat Your Time As Having Great Value.
When you are able to plan out your day and how you want to spend your time, you will get a lot more done and you will also have more time to enjoy doing fun things. Balance your schedule so you do not get burned out.
5) Have A Growth Mindset.
Having a growth mindset means you believe anything is possible. If you can believe that your goal is possible, you can achieve it. A person with a growth mindset is willing to study the necessary books and attend the required courses in order to grow their skills to become a person that can achieve their particular goal.
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
6) Stay Focused, Regardless Of What’s Going On.
Whenever you set your mind on a goal, the distractions of the world seem to come knocking on your door. Some distractions must be attended to while others can be ignored. You must learn to tell the difference and keep your mind on your goals. It is so important for you to focus your thoughts on the things you want and off the things you don’t want.
7) Take Massive Action.
Big goals require big action. It is important that you do something to move you toward your goal on a daily basis. Avoid making exceptions. This doesn’t have to always be a physical action but can be a mental action as well.
“Continuous effort — not strength or intelligence — is the key to unlocking our potential.”
~ Winston Churchill
8) Be Careful Of What The Common Man Believes.
It is sad and funny how people are experts when it comes to the things that cannot be done. This is especially true for your family and friends. They somehow know all the things that won’t work. Do not allow yourself to become dissuaded by their false beliefs. This is especially true for those of you who thrive on other people’s opinion of you. Stay strong and focused on your goal even if no one else supports it.
“Think big and don’t listen to people who tell you it can’t be done. Life’s too short to think small.”
~ Tim Ferriss
9) Be Prepared For Setbacks And Going Through Uncomfortable Situations.
Living up to your fullest potential means you will have to voluntarily put yourself in new environments and around new people. This means possible embarrassment and a lot of awkwardness. This is part of any new endeavor so don’t panic. Just keep moving.
10) Allow Time To Recharge.
Making room for your goals means you will have to give up a lot of your free time. This may mean less sleep, less television and many of the other things you have filled your day with before you decided to live your life to your fullest potential. You can function without many of these activities; except for sleep, but you have to develop a sense of balance.
